Effort Highlights “Rank Hypocrisy” of Vance’s Criticism of Governor Walz’ Military Service

(Columbus, OH) Rural USA PAC has put up new billboards today advertising Trump’s dodging of the  Vietnam draft because of supposed ‘bone spurs.’ The billboards, which read, “Bone Spurs Really, Really  Hurt,” have gone up along Interstate 26 in Asheville and Highway 6 in Grand Rapids, Michigan in advance  of Former President Donald Trump’s rally tonight at Harrah’s Cherokee Center in Asheville and J.D. Vance’s  meeting tonight in Bryron Center near Grand Rapids.

Trump’s lack of military service has become a salient issue in the race following Vice President Harris’  selection of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who served honorably in the Army National Guard for 24  years. Vice Presidential Candidate J.D. Vance, also a veteran, has led a barrage of attacks against  Governor Walz dragging military service to the forefront of a presidential race for the first time since  “Swift Boat Kerry” in 2004.

“In rural America, we applaud Governor Walz for his 24 years of honorable service to this country. For J.D.  Vance to criticize Governor Walz’ service reeks of rank hypocrisy given who is at the top of the Trump Vance ticket,” said Christopher Gibbs, President of Rural USA PAC, a political action committee dedicated  to advocating for rural interests.

“J.D. Vance is launching baseless attacks against Governor Walz’ honorable military service when Donald  Trump not only didn’t serve, but dodged the draft. Over 55,000 Americans died fighting in Vietnam and  yet Donald Trump put himself above his country. That may have been the first time he had done so but it  certainly hasn’t been the last.”

Former President Trump and J.D. Vance will be greeted by these billboards on the way to tonight’s  events. We hope they realize that we aren’t going to let them get away with ‘Swiftboating’ an honorable  veteran like Governor Walz. Trump and Vance ought to be ashamed of their hypocrisy.”
